Neighborhood Revitalization

CDBG - Community Development Block Grant

Madison utilized Sherry Kurtz of Grant Specialists of Georgia, Inc., to compete in the state annual competition for CDBG funding. Administered by the Georgia Dept. of Community Affairs, CDBG funds are used to fund projects creating employment opportunities or improving living conditions for low-to-moderate income populations.

On September 6, 2016, Madison became one of the 74 award recipients of $37.7 million in funding announced by Governor Nathan Deal. City leaders will attend the official award ceremony in Savannah in October. GICH is hopeful that with CHIP and CDBG concentrated in the same target area, along with other great revitalization projects and programs, that the neighborhood revival will really take shape.
