Functions

The Special Programs office serves as the city's general liaison and information officer to the public. Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating Madison Main Street Program
  • Directing marketing and tourism city initiatives
  • Coordinating efforts with the Convention and Visitors Bureau
  • Reviewing grants for heritage attractions and facade improvements
  • Coordinating unique municipal projects
  • Coordinating city-sponsored events
  • Reviewing permits for city-licensed events (e.g. use of public property, including public assembly, parades, and road races)
