Zoning has been an active component of Madison's growth management program since the late 1960s. In addition to charting existing and future land use patterns within the community's comprehensive plan, Madison utilizes a highly itemized zoning ordinance to guide development and to assure a high degree of community confidence. The current Zoning Ordinance, as well as the Zoning Map, are incorporated by reference within the Code of Ordinances.
