The Greenspace Conservation Commission held its annual Fall Fete October 15th on the beautiful grounds of the Brady Inn. Each year the board seeks to highlight Madisonians giving a little extra green boost to our shared environment. The awards recognize that residential yards and gardens as well as commercial landscapes help beautify the community, soften the structures, and balance the pavement.
The Brady Inn received the Downtown Landscape Award for their extensive and beautiful grounds surrounding the inn.
Linda Williams received the Creative Spaces Award – Folk Garden. This whimsical garden on E. Washington St. makes us all smile as we walk or drive past.
Barbara and Toy Sims received Heritage Residential Landscape Award. The Sims can be found most days laboring in their lush green yard on Billups Avenue tending to the wide variety of plants.
Cathey Holdings, Inc received recognition for their donation of greenspace along Horse Branch adding to the permanently protected wildlife habitat within Madison’s city limits.
Conner Auto Parts received the Commercial Landscape Award for their formerly paved frontage which is now a dense green verge planted with trees and shrubbery.
